Results 2016: Consolidation of EcoMetales management

  • The company improved all its management indicators, processing more waste, recovering more copper, reducing its costs and improving its safety performance.
  • The cost of treatment was reduced by 15% to US$1.54 per pound of copper, with the advantage of depositing arsenic in a stable form.

ARSENIC AND MINING

Arsenic is an element that occurs naturally in the earth’s crust, often along with copper deposits. Today’s copper mining industry faces the challenge of dealing with an increased presence of arsenic in its production processes. Click here for all you need to know about copper mining and arsenic.

Our People

We have an experienced team comprising some 300 people of whom 50% are direct employees and 20% are women. We seek to hire people who live in the Antofagasta Region where we have our operational activities

We implement a rigorous occupational health program that includes an Arsenic Surveillance Program for exposed employees. In 2015, the health authorities recognized EcoMetales as a “Health-Promoting Workplace”.
